The Wishing Wall

I wish I could tell my older self that that nagging thorn in my side didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. It all turns out okay in the end.

I wish I were the clouds and I wish I were the trees and I wish I were the birds who float upon the breeze. I wish I were the sun and I wish I were the horizon and I wish I were the colors athat every day the sky tries on. I wish I were the night and I wish I were the moon and I wish I were the stars whose twinkling makes me swoon. I wish I were a rose and I wish I were the dew and I wish I were the dawn when I wake up next to you.

I wish you were here.

I wish I had just a little bit more time.

I wish I could live in a log cabin, high up in the mountains where I could see all the stars at night.

I wish I had a dragon with diamond-studded scales, with claws like silver sabers, and fangs like silver nails, a dragon fierce and faithful, always ready by my side, a dragon to defend me or take me for a ride. I wish I had a dragon with eyes of shining gold, who breathed a plume of fire whenever it was told, a dragon so frocious it might frighten Frankenstein, but not a lazy dragon who sleeps all day...like mine!

I wish I wish you knew that you will never have all the answers and that's okay, because one day you will look back and see how everything fell into place.

I wish I could find a resting place.

I wish that I could mail some snow inside a box addressed to you so you could have your own snowman with button eyes the way I do and you could sled and build a fort. With snow there's so much you can make. I wish that I could mail some snow so you could taste a sweet snowflake.
